Jim knew from a young age that he wanted to be a food industry. He began working toward his goal of starting his own brokerage company while he was in college getting his economics and business degrees; when he went to work for a Manzella Food Brokers in Buffalo, NY. He moved to Chicago in 1990 to work for a national private label broker, and three short years later started Private Brands. For the past 25+ years he has been relentlessly searching for ways to improve the company. Never being satisfied and keeping a healthy dose of paranoia has made him more determined today than the day he started. The ability to adapt to changing times and technologies has proven well for him and the company. Outside of the office, Jim is involved in several charitable organizations as well as teaching “learn to skate” programs to preschoolers on the weekend.

President

Jason joined Private Brands in 2005 right after graduating from Indiana University. Over the last 13 years, he has grown from an account executive to vice president of sales for the company. His core beliefs are integrity, accountability, and perseverance and applies these with every vendor and retailer he works with. In 2013, Jason graduated with a masters in Product Design and Development from Northwestern University, which has proved invaluable in working with both private label and branded companies. When he’s not in the office, he enjoys coaching t-ball, watching horror movies, and doing his best to be a great husband and dad.

Jason joined Private Brands in 2005 right after graduating from Indiana University. Over the last 13 years, he has grown from an account executive to vice president of sales for the company. jASON GUCWA

Vice President - Sales

 
Jack graduated in 2016 with a business and economics degree from St. Norbert College. Before his senior year of college, Jack spent the summer working as an intern at Private Brands. It was through this internship where he developed a passion for the food retail industry. Prior to joining Private Brands, Jack spent the previous eight years working as a caddy, which taught him the hard work and service approach that we are so well known for. Outside of the office, Jack enjoys playing hockey, softball, and golf.

Eileen has over 20 years of office experience spanning from accounting to human resources to Customer Service. Her last five years have been spent at Private Brands as the Customer Service Director. Her ability to solve problems and working with people make her a perfect fit for this position. Eileen is an avid Chicago Sports fan; her two favorite teams are the Blackhawks and the White Sox.

Customer Service Director

Prior to joining Private Brands 3 years ago, Will spent the previous five years working at a very high end country club, where employees were expected to go above and beyond for their customers. Although the scenery has changed, the exceptional customer service that he provides for his customers and clients has not. Having grown up with a father who is a Chicago Bears beat writer, he developed a passion for sports at an early age. When he’s not working on his golf game or watching whatever sport is on TV, he spends most of his free time with his 1 year old German Shepherd.

Kelly has been working at Private Brands for 13 years. Her prior work experience includes grocery retail, food service and manufacturing which makes her a huge asset to our team. She oversees all pricing and EDI for Private Brands along with helping customers and vendors with daily issues. She is known for her keen eye and attention to detail which gave her the nickname ‘the Hawk’ in the office. On top of never missing a deadline, she makes sure the job gets done punctually and correctly. In her spare time she enjoys listening to music and watching her favorite team, the Chicago Cubs.

Nick worked several years at a grocery store learning the foundation to the business. After earning a bachelor’s degree in History from Benedictine University, Nick met Jim and chose Private Brands to root himself in his career path. When Nick is not at work, he spends time with his 8 year old son; Vincent.

Amanda began as a fine artist who studied and learned graphic design. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design (product design) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She has been designing at Private Brands for 4 and a half years. On top of doing graphic design, the majority of her free time is spent doing freelance work, including drawing, painting, and calligraphy.
